practicality's sake

Today’s post is not so much about design in itself, but instead about an accessory to all the other good design we try to surround ourselves with when having a baby. Bibs are a source of frustration for me. I really don’t want to see another “I’m a cutie” or “Daddy’s little monster” wrapped around her neck. It’s silly I suppose, but when I have such fun getting cute clothes and toys and visually pleasing things for her, why add an icky pastel bib that covers everything up? So I’m here to show you a couple of the options I’m working with.
There is, of course, etsy, as seen above. But I’ve found that, though I’d love to use only these, I can’t afford to buy them in the quantities I need right now. I have some, but I’m forced to fill in with something less precious. I think I may add in extra special etsy bibs as we grow.

I also have these (above) from ikea, and they’re great, but very thin. So on those days when it’s clear we’re in for more than drool, they don’t quite cut it.

Finally I found these cheap and cheerfuls from Koala Kids – and I know they must go the distance because I realized they’re the same things my daughter’s daycare uses. We gave in and bought some at Babies’R’Us the other night – 10 for $10. The bright colors will compliment all the other brightness I love.
