I was wandering around the “interwebs” looking for some paper doll inspiration for a new freelance project (hi Lanie!), and found some amazing vintage paper dolls. I still remember my mom letting me look through some of her old paper dolls when I was a kid – but of course we didn’t actually get to play with them. These Besty McCall Paper Dolls first appeared in McCall’s Magazine in 1951, and continued into the 90’s! You can read more about Betsy here. My favorite collection of images for you to download and play with (no fragile old paper to worry about!) is from 1951 – 1961 and is available here.
It looks like there are many possible resources for vintage paper dolls, I also found a great collection of scans at Bella Dia’s blog, if you’re looking for a few more!
Again, another amazing, free, downloadable gift idea – print several on cardstock and tie with a bow.
paper dolls are still cool
