While I don’t recall doing it much with our youngest, I can guarantee our oldest learned how to count (at least to 12) because I’d repeatedly sing the song in the video below while giving him a bath. I’m a big fan of killing metaphoric birds, especially when I can do it with one stone, so combining bath time with learning time seemed like a great fit. I’m hoping to try it again soon with tooth-brushing and particle physics, but I may wait a few years.
And now, thanks to the wonder that is YouTube, I present to you a bit of your childhood:

We do learning in the tub too! Those foam letters taught the boys their ABCs and got the oldest starting on reading words.
They also love the pinball song thanks to youtube + my iphone.
Esther – It’s great to know I’m not the only one that takes advantage of their bath time attentiveness! It’s a great way to sneak a bit more learning into each day. Thanks for the comment…
Ha! I sang this song to my son while changing his diaper when he was really little and needed distracting. Now that he’s 2, he watches the pinball song on the Sesame Street site. And he loves it. And he loves counting. A lot of great classics on the site as well. Some of the ones we’ve uncovered have been amazing. Lost in time (or so I thought).
I’m ashamed, but I never thought of checking the Sesame Street website for video clips….going to do that now! Thanks for the tip!
