finding a basket amidst the trees

Modern Screenprinted Cork Storage Bins from Print Party on Etsy

I spent a funny evening after dinner obeying my daughter’s commands. At 20 months, that involved watching her squat on the floor, pat it repeatedly with an open hand, and shout “go go go go”. Which for some reason means sit here and play with me. Ok. I’ll sit and play with you, I’d be honored. But what she really wanted to do was take her nice but somewhat boring canvas bin full of blocks (and I mean full, up to it’s square brim) and dump them everywhere. Every time I tried to put the blocks away, out they came. And more forcibly with every attempt. Until finally she was swinging the bin wildly around the room. So that’s another parenting lesson learned: storage solutions must also be aerodynamic. And very soft when hit against one’s head.

These minimalist cork baskets from Print Place would fit that description nicely. (yeah, fine, maybe not the aerodynamic bit, just humor me) Their soft, flexible cork is printed with a very simple, snowy graphic of trees. It’s rather poetic considering cork actually comes from trees. I do wish they came in larger sizes (these won’t be holding our massive collection of blocks, sadly) but even the smaller sizes would be great for holding crayons, hair doodads, etc. Unique bins like these are one of those things that I would purposely find a use for, just so I had an excuse to buy one. And maybe, just maybe, I won’t get hit in the head again.
