Oxo expands with Oxo Tot

Oxo Tot debuts with Bath scooper Whale Pail

One of my favorite lines at the ABC Kids Expo – and one that gathered lots of buzz and lots of people – is Oxo Tot. You remember Oxo? All those kitchen gadgets lounging around your drawers and cupboards? They were one of the first companies to focus on ergonomic grips and modern design innovations, these days there’s lots of great options which probably owe their start to some of Oxo’s products. Well, this time they’re expanding their great new line of kids products – feeding, bathing, and cleaning. I’ll share my top four picks here.

I think my favorite is their take on the bath tub scooper, the Whale Pail (image above). Though it’s giving a big nod to Boon’s Frog Pod, it’s smaller profile and easier wall hook system may sway me (we need one, stat!).  Plus, it has a minimalist style that I love.

I’m always happy to see new sippy cup options – and Oxo’s sippy cup tops and handles are completely interchangeable – with options for beginning sippers, all the way through straws and into first cups (see the far-right red cup below? It has a less-spills top on it!).

They were also showing off their Sprout high chair. This one has lots of subtle bells and whistles. It seems like a nice quiet piece of furniture, and then you learn that it has almost all the adjustability and age range of a Stokke (6 months through 5 years, with adjustable and removable tray, steps, chair pads, and straps).

Their quirkiest new item? Oxo Tot added adorable chef hats, with matching aprons and wooden spoons. They’re tugging at my heart strings with these!

The whale pail is my favorite (though boon is coming out with a whale too!) and I would totally get the apron and hats if we didn’t already have the chef outfit from Melissa & Doug. Good picks!

I love it when multiple companies are on the same gestalt and end up with similar items, I’ve done it myself when developing product! But I think I like Oxo’s better – it’s simpler, and not so big.
I’m thinking the chef’s hat and apron would be great for Birdie’s second birthday!
