B. You Toys Pop-Arty Beads

Last week Birdie and I had the pleasure of lunching with Gisela, from the amazing team responsible for B. Toys. We had a blast chatting about a little bit of everything. And you know she’s a good toy designer because she’s fantastic with kids. Birdie thought she was the tops. You may remember me practically falling over with glee when I first caught B. Toys at Target earlier this year. This is probably the best line of plastic toys out there right now, and I’m not just being nice. Beyond the gorgeous designs are some really solid play patterns, toy longevity, and a great value for the price. To top it all off, 10 cents of every toy purchased goes to the aid organization, Free the Children, which builds schools around the world (and which was started by a 12 year old, it’s amazing stuff).

Gisela also discreetly handed me a huge container full of B. Pop Arty Beads (we didn’t want Birdie to catch wind!). Though she thought Birdie was a little older than she actually is, these are still a great gift. Especially because Birdie’s momma happens to love them. Once we were home and well-napped, Birdie quickly dumped them all out on the floor – what a glorious mess! She prefers to stack some of the flatter pieces in little teeny piles (all over the house). But I probably spent 30 minutes trying to build the perfect necklace while covering her arms, ankles, and fingers in rings and bracelets. This set rocks. The shapes, the colors, the textures, the endless combinations are all … well, delicious. I seriously had to keep myself from licking them.

For more beautiful images of the line, make sure to take a peek at Gabrielle’s post on Design Mom – there are some great close-ups of the beads. Luscious!

Joe – you must be the best uncle EVER. They will love these. (and if for some strange reason they – gasp – don’t? Just bring them to our house!)

I totally agree. This line of toys is terrific! Several of their toys are already lined up to be under the tree this year. The kids will love them!

Same here Michelle! And because it’s available at Target I can even suggest it to relatives who have a hard time getting to my other favorite stores ;)

We have these beads (in the old Parent’s toys colorway) and they are indeed awesome. I love that you can use some of the pieces to start making some crazy 3d sculptural jewelry. Seriously almost as much fun for me as for the kiddos.

I’m seriously considering wearing some of those rings to the next art opening I go to. Assuming I ever get to one.
