There are plenty of educational kid’s shows on TV today, like Sid the Science Kid, Super Why, and Dinosaur Train, but I don’t think any of them will leave an impression on kids like the classics did on us. Classics like The Electric Company, Reading Rainbow, and my personal favorite, Schoolhouse Rock!
Now, thanks to Youtube, our kids can experience the kind of educational programming that is severely lacking from TV today.
Because of the song in this clip, I knew what a conjunction was before I could even read, and years before I’d ever get formal instruction on parts of speech. Enjoy!

I LOVED Reading Rainbow. My other Canadian favourites were “Today’s Special”, “The Magic Ring” and “Harriet’s Magic Hat”. Hmm… I wonder if I can find them on Youtube. There goes my morning!
