open-ended imaginative play kids motif cubes puzzle

It’s funny how the objects I’m interested often parallel the topics circling my own life. This week I’m “puzzling” through some life decisions: prechool vs. nanny, teaching vs. freelance, and workloads in general. There isn’t one right answer for me right now, and I’m spending lots of brain time debating which combination will feel the best for me and my family. The beauty of the modern Motif Cubes Puzzle ($25) is that, like my current life connundrums, the play is rather endless. Instead of one puzzle solution, there are as many as your mind can puzzle through. No matter which way these blocks are positioned, the imaginative puzzle lines up to create a new pattern. Whether in red or white, I’m mesmerized just looking at the options below. I can only imagine the slightly magical quality they would bring to a 5 year old. I wish they were bigger (the entire puzzle is 6″ square), but maybe in the small chaos that is my house, smaller would be a good thing!

Love this one! I could see this in my house. And my kids are grown up!

If I still had a bona-fida work desk, it’d be on my desk right now!

I love open-ended puzzles. This one is beautiful. I’m also a fan of P’kolino puzzles.
