Oh, my little girl. We arranged a fun-filled (ok fine, there wasn’t any cake, nor horsies, but still) photo session with my new friend Maris, from Maris Ehlers Photography. Yet Birdie spent most of the session with the expression shown above. Or variations on that theme. She’s such a gregarious little girl that it never occurs to me that a new situation may, in fact, freak her out. This one did! I knew we were done when she laid her head down in my lap for the umpteenth time and said: “Momma, I so sad.” Luckily Maris is talented enough to move past the drama: she gave us some amazing pictures. I cannot over-emphasize how great it is to find some photographic help when shooting your own children. I may be a creative type, but my amateur attempts are no match to Maris’s skill set. See more of her work at Maris Ehlers Photography, particularly if you’re in the Twin Cities and need some great pics! (She’s available for all kinds of photo sessions, not just kids!)

Oh – she is so sweet! Our adorable kids are even more adorable when they are grumpy:)
Thank you! I totally agree – and Alex has a pretty good grumpy face too ;)
beautiful! my little girl is the same way, pouts galore for photos…but my goodness, what gorgeous photos! your little birdie is a total doll.
Thanks so much Lesley! I gotta say, the pouts are kind of fun at this age.
Oh my lordy that child of yours is such a lovely lovely little cutie!!!!! Miss Dottie will flip when she sees this, trust me!!!!
Thank you so much! My Momma Pride is beaming!
OMG! I’m freaking FLIPPING over how button cute she is and she’s gotten SO BIG! Is it just me? And hey–who is her little friend!
hehehe, thank you mucho much Dottie! She’s growing so dang fast I can’t keep up, I think she just had a growth spurt because she suddenly seems leaner to me.
Her little friend is one of my designs, Lanky Cats (though around here she’s known as Moe KiddyKat) – you can see all the Cats here:

She doesn’t look like a baby anymore, does she? Thanks Cassie!
When is your WOW session?!? :-)
harhar, think I’ll wait for my own session until that big TV interview. (using the power of suggestion here, no interviews yet!)

Thanks Leah – can’t wait to see how your little one looks in her new glasses – you better post some pics too!
I love all the photos – but that one of her little legs! I think that will make your heart squeeze to look at it in a few years, to remember how tiny her feet were. So sweet!
