wood for babies

Smiling Tree Toys natural organic non-toxic wood teething and play toys for babies and toddlers on etsy

Though I’ve theoretically understood for years that wooden toys can be safe for infants – and for teething in particular – it wasn’t until Etsy, and my own wee one that I really began to get it. I know, wood seems a little counterintuitive, right? Hard wood, little baby mouths, the possibility of splinters. But, in an era where plastic can definitely be considered Enemy No. 1, it’s wonderful to realize that all-natural, all-beautiful wood can be your friend from the very beginning.

Smiling Tree Toys has it going on in spades. They’re organic, non-toxic, and made right here in the USA with delicious maple, cherry and walnut woods. It’s even better when you can find electric guitars and submarines cars. And since back-to-school and fall scheduling has most of us biting our nails (it’s not just me, I hope) the teethers can do double-duty, soothing us at midnight when the tots are hopefully asleep. Please gawd, let them be asleep.

Oh Mari I love the balancing toy! I saw one at Peopods, a balancing turtle, that I was tempted to get for the kids… I totally agree with the wood teethers for babies, natural, beautiful, and timeless…. I was having my little girl roll around on the ground today and she gravitate towards her big brother’s wooden fences. Gosh. It’s so hard to resist these beautifully minimal and simple toys, need to go lock my wallet in a safe right now. :/

hehe, I know exactly how you feel! I’m craving a balance toy for Birdie, I think she’s at an age where she’d really get it now.
