The Nursery Rhymes with Storytime app, $3.99 is a new favorite. I’m head over heels for the vintage illustrations and classic stories. They’ve been hijacked, dusted off, and upgraded to a look that’s just so COOL with all of it’s retro layers. Birdie is of course fascinated with all the moving bits and pieces. Even as an adult I caught myself fiddling with the interactive elements for quite awhile. And I’ll admit, I haven’t found a Nursery Rhymes book that fits my slightly snotty design opinions, which means this digital book fills a big void. (because overall I am a little leary of having too many digital book options for my girl, I really want her to appreciate good ol’ fashioned paper).
Like lots of digital books, you can choose to read it on your own, or follow along with the audio narration. But there’s an even more amazing option. We haven’t tried this yet, but using your Game Center account, you can read your Nursery Rhymes remotely from one iPad or iPhone to another. Watch the video below to get the idea. So, next time you’re traveling to Bangkok on that top secret mission (or working late at the office, and other more “likely” scenarios) you can still read these favorite bedtime stories to your favorite little one. Or, get the techie grandparents in on the fun? Just maybe…

Very cool. I’m going to check this out as soon I am done typing this comment :) My oldest has a Christmas Story book that someone recorded for him and his still listens to it all the time.
Thanks for sharing.
Yay! I think it’s such a great way to use technology to connect family, instead of dividing it. Let me know how it goes!
I got it for the iPad — headed to the ABC Expo next week, so I am going to record a few before I leave :)
Brilliant idea Sheila! Oh how I wish I was going to ABC, maybe next year…
I really love this app. But a little disappointed over the price. I have another similar app and you can find it at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/row-row-your-boat/id513224367?mt=8
My son really loves this app. But i’m also a little disappointed over the price. And thanks Harry… The app you suggested at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/row-row-your-boat/id513224367?mt=8 is really good. Thanks a lot….
I agree, though the illustrations are so great that I’m willing to pay a little more.
