Handmade Custom Halloween Costume and Winter Yeti Hats for Kids and Adults, from Etsy

The title should more realistically read: handmade-by-someone-else-who-has-the-time Halloween Costume Love. You’ll find tons of tutus, princesses, and baby onesie animal costumes overflowing the costume category on Etsy. But amongst them are also some more unique options. I find I’m always drawn to the costumes that can live beyond Halloween. So in the end, I’d willingly spend a little more for something that will last a little longer.

What kind of costumes are you planning this year? Homemade, handmade, or something else? Got any good links? Share them with us in the comments!

(above)Yeti Hat (in sizes S – XL), from Casey Bot, $35. These amazing hats come in adult sizes too – so I think I’ll have to get one hat in grey, and then get a second white hat for Birdie. Yep.

(above) Halloween Dinosaur Dragon Tails, from Alison Stephen, $20. These simply wrap around the waist – what an easy way to get such an awesome tail! Thank goodness they come in such a wide range of gorgeous colors. And um, the combination of the Jellycat Pig with the Trumpett socks in that photo above is just killing me with cute.

(above) Upcycled Bird Costume Dress, from Sewn Natural, $82. Yes, some of these are a little spendier, but the uniqueness of the design is just too cool for school. Also available as a fox, frog, and the old classic, a devil.

(above) Floral Rabbit Romper Suit, from Vintage Child Modern, $96. Choose your fabric from several custom options, and this beautiful costume will last you all the way through Easter.

(above) Alice in Wonderland Retro Apron Dress, from Lover Dovers Clothing, $52. There are several varieties of your standard princesses, plus Strawberry Shortcake and Minnie Mouse too, all done in a retro style that’s frankly much more appealing. So if your girl has hit the age where she just MUST be a princess, this is the shop for you.
