This is the week that never was. We all careen into Christmas, then lurch through a blank week of no-school, semi-vacation, post-sugar-rush and post-christmas-letdown, smacking directly into New Year’s. Ooph. I’m still trying to dig out from the piles of wonderful things that we’ve accumulatd over the past week, how about you? It has me itching for some major reorganization around here. Maybe I can actually find the time once Birdie returns to preschool!
First of all, we have to decide how to ring in the New Year. I do know it will be happening much earlier than midnight for one little girl known as Birdie. Perhaps noonish? What are your family New Year’s traditions? We’d love to hear about them! (Frankly, I need some inspiration)
This week’s picks – let’s continue with some arty links, I know some of you need more ideas for next week’s continuing school vacation:
- (image above) The simplicity of these DIY modern wooden blocks is directly opposite to the complex patterns and images one can create with them. Great gift idea too. From Etsy.com.
- Birdie would love this DIY ribbon and jewel bracelet, I just wish she wouldn’t love it in pink (but let’s be honest, she would). From Flax and Twine.
- Babble.com’s Toddler times has a fun list of 25 indoor toddler activities to keep your toddler occupied this winter. We’ll need every one of them at this rate.
- Love these great open-ended kids art projects rounded up by Childhood 101.
And some more links for the weekend:
- A rather unbelievable $4700 Eco-friendly Fairy Tale home from Wales.
- I want a huge stack of these Iglooplay Candy Pods for our future (way in the future) play room/kids space. Found via inhabitots.
- Adorable Wall Murals from Japanese artist Ami Suma, along with a little interview about her process. Love those creatures. Found via LMNOP Magazine.
- I’ve been wanting someone to rehab old TV’s with new flat screens for a long time, but this Retro iPad Stand is also pretty sweet.
Happy New Year’s everyone! See you in 2012!
