day in day out: American Apparel for kids

Ameriacn Apparel Fashion - Hip modern classics for your kids play clothes this summer

Every summer it seems we have new clothing challenges. Last summer it was somehow managing to keep her tushy covered while potty training (or attempting to train, ha. We didn’t have much success back then!). This summer? Birdie’s potty trained! (shout it to the roofs people!!!) But I’m suddenly realizing that my rough and tumble little girl has no padding on her butt anymore! Since I love putting her in simple dresses – they’re cooler and easier to wear than shorts, at least to me – I’m suddenly looking for my 90’s equivalent of wearing men’s boxers under my skirts. Yep, I was a little weird. But let’s move on.

American Apparel agreed to help me out, and sent us some great summer clothes for Birdie. They stock such a great selection of cool classics, there’s always something I want for her and for me. Plus, seriously, you can get these or you can get another badly logo’d/graphicized glittered thing from Target. No contest! This time we focused on summer dresses and how to keep her … er … proper, underneath them! Though I’m sure she’ll be a headstrong gal and at some point this summer we’ll back to just undies anyway!

Racerback Dress, $14 | Polka Dot Skirt, $22 | Organic Skater tank Dress, $20

Composition Cycle Short, $13 |Grid Cycle Short, $13 | Gold Legging, $21

Also – there’s a great sale going on – take 20% off any kids order over $50! Use code KIDSBABIES20 at checkout.
Now I’ve just got to figure out what I’LL be wearing this summer … winter’s padding has me stumped again.

*Only word of warning – always wash your brand new American Apparel clothing by itself the first time, we’ve had problems with fabrics bleeding colors! (But we don’t tend to be very careful launderers around here, lights and darks kind of get all mixed together! Shout Color Catcher has remedied the problems when it happens.)

I love the Skater tank dresses. Both my five year old and eighteen month old daughters have them in several colours. Perfect for twirling on sunny days :)

My thoughts exactly – Birdie loves to twirl too.
