gotta get app: Little Fox Music Box

Little Fox Music Box ipad and iphone app for kids from Shape Minds

Sometimes an iPad/iPhone app’s illustrations are so lush that I’m a little lost for words. I could see myself featuring this app just for the imagery, even if the functionality wasn’t so hot. But, luckily, Little Fox Music Box ROCKS. And I kind of mean that literally. It is, after all, a music app.

Birdie is at the perfect age – 3 years old – to sing along with these songs, each sung in a lovely arrangement with adorable little kids voices so she feels right at home. Two of the songs are near and dear to us – Old MacDonald and London Bridge (with ALL the lyrics! I LOVE knowing all the lyrics!) but the third, Evening Song, is less familiar. That creates a nice mix of “learning” for both of us. The fourth area, Fox’s music studio, is chock-a-block full of little animals/objects that each make some very … unique … sounds. Hilarious. All three song scenes – and the music studio – are filled with hidden activities to touch and fiddle with. Birdie and I were fighting over them the first time we opened the app! But the best part is hearing her little voice spontaneously burst into song. Sometimes – just sometimes – she’ll even let me sing along with her.

I’ve already reviewed Nighty Night previously, and this developer – Shape Minds and Moving Images – is now right up at the top of my list of favorites. I need to catch up with all of their apps! But for now – they’ve reduced the price of Little Fox Music Box to $2.99, click over and get it now! (it works on both iPads and iPhones)

I am very interested in kids music apps and I find “Little Fox Music” very suitable for a child of three years old. I downloaded the apps and he enjoyed so much. Since he is been playing with “a jazzy day” which is kind of similar with storytelling and introducing musical instruments to kids.

If parents are interested in music apps, you should check out “a jazzy day” too and here is their website.

I recommend it, my nephew loves it.

I love the app, but I am bothered by The Evening Song. Through out the song there is some sort of chanting that appears to be in sync with the Bear telling a story, but when the music stops, the chanting continues for several minutes. Can anyone tell me what is being said on this chant. I am ready to delete the app because of this. The Evening Song is the only song that I can hear this additional chanting.

Wow, I haven’t noticed that in our version. Have you shut down the iPad and rebooted? Sometimes that helps resets things. Wish I had a better answer!

It is definetely in the app. This is not the original free version that was offered. I purchased and downloaded the app on January 26, 2013 and it installed on ipad, iphone, and itouch. I have had many people listen to the app and everyone agrees that the chanting/whispering is throughout The Evening Song. It is in sync with the Bear telling the story. Once the singing and music stops it continues for almost 3 – 4 minutes beyond. There is not a single person that has heard this that is not curious and puzzled by the whispering. I can make out a few words, but nothing complete. It repeats the same phrase over and over. I have sent an email to littlefox@goodbeans.com but have not received a response.

So strange. Best of luck, let me know if you get it resolved!

Did you ever get a reply on the chanting? I’m looking for some explanation. It is very creepy and I’m close to removing this app myself! Thanks!
