rainbow of (nail) colors

kids nail polish - Crayola Nail polish and Hopscotch Kids

Who doesn’t have fond memories of the smell, feel, and color of a 64 box of Crayola crayons? I just lurve seeing the same bright pops of color in these adorable little retro-esque Crayola Nail Polish bottles. It took a little digging to see if they were actually safe for kids, however. Age graded 8+, the nail polish is free of the Big 3 (Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde and Toluene), but they’re still a bit chemical-laden (see the ingredients list here).

So here’s my question, fellow ‘rents. How far off the deep end do we go? Do you let your young’uns paint their nails? All the time, or as a special treat? I love painting my nails these days – there are so many beautiful colors! But I’ve found that every time I break out a new look, Birdie suddenly takes an interest and wants her very own. No surprise. Once in awhile I give in! I try to take an “everything-in-moderation” approach, knowing full well that full-on avoidance can lead to lots of issues later (Teenage rebellion, please avoid our household. Ha.)

So, as much as I love the Crayola Nail Polishes, I think I’m going to splurge soon on some of these gorgeous Hopscotch Kids non-toxic nail polishes and nail polish remover. They’ve got great colors, and a non-toxic approach to keep me happy too. Now if I could just convince Birdie she doesn’t need every shade of pink and purple …

Why are you so awesome and always write about exactly what I need the day I need it? Seriously. Do you read my mind? I think you do!

These are awesome and I’m going to buy them RIGHT NOW.

Thanks for being awesome (as usual, Mari…)

Dottie,
You are my best ray of sunshine ever, I love seeing comments from you!

I can only assume that great minds like ours think alike … across the miles. :)
