Ukrainian Easter Eggs - handmade on etsy - kit from Hearthsong

Have you heard of Pysanky, or Ukrainian Easter Eggs? I wanted to share these beautiful examples from this Etsy shop, Ukranian Easter Eggs. Each egg is created by layering beeswax from a special pen-like tool onto the egg, then dipping it in various colors. My mom and I used to make these every year when I was younger. I remember thinking how complicated the patterns and layers were – but the results were always such a wonderful surprise!

Then there was the April Fool’s Day when my brother carefully recreated my mom’s latest egg. Then he waited till she walked by and dropped it onto the floor – where it of course shattered in a zillion pieces! Oh my. I think that was the year we as a family decided we were done with April Fool’s Day. Or was it the year he replaced my hairspray with pickle juice or the year he hid my mattress? Hard to say.

You can purchase your own Ukrainian Easter Egg Kit from Hearthsong – it’s a great project for creative types to dive into this time of year!

I want to see pictures of the ones you did as a kid! What a cool tradition and Easter memories to have.

LOL, I think they’re so far buried I’ll never find them! But yes, I love those memories.
