round about: circus girls and surfer ukuleles

by mari

This weeks top links: miniature people photography, Kid Made Modern Ukulele, Spanish Story Pillows, Vintage Circus Girl, What's your Label, Growth Chart

Hm. We started out the week so nicely – a little Memorial Day, a little bit of doing nothing. Then I got sick, then it rained all week, Birdie’s photo appeared unauthorized on someone’s Facebook page with a bunch of cruel comments, and then my laptop died. Without warning. I thank my lucky stars for my dear sweet husband, his infinite patience, and my patience too. I also thank my freelance clients for their patience while we get things back up and running. Ooph. TGIF.

This week round about the internet:

  • Todd Oldham is selling a $20 DIY Ukulele? Why didn’t anyone tell me?! via Handmade Charlotte
  • These Spanish Story Pillows are adorable, even if I don’t understand them. via Kireei
  • I want my own Circus Girl Costume. via Petit a Petit and Family
  • I love this post about figuring out your own identity, and owning it. I’ve gone through this so many times, and still do. via Rain Coast Creative Salon
  • Cute Growth Chart, and a thoughtful post too. via Design Mom

Thanks Celina! I think I’m going to make it – thank goodness I have a techie husband who is buying and installing a new hard drive this weekend.

That Ukulele is super cool!
I want one for myself, I’ll design some cool graphic(s) and decoupage it to the Ukulele?… So many ideas for this:)

That was my first thought too – I want one for me as much as for my girl! LOL.

BTW, forgot to mention… that is terrible about the cruel comments… sometimes I just don’t get some people, no other words than just disrespectful to human kind! This has been a topic on Boston NPR this past week about people leaving snide comments on social media… Stay strong and get well!

Thanks so much Walter!
I will never understand why people feel their mean opinions are suddenly so valued online. I’m all for free speech, but when one’s comments are directed at a picture of a 2-year old (it’s an older photo of her), I get a little irate.

How upsetting about the Birdie photo! Nasty business.

And thanks for including my post. It’s something I’m working on too.

Have a lovely weekend.

It’s nasty, and leaves me so confused: no one is listening or benefiting from the nasty comments except for the self-absorbed commenter.

And you’re welcome Sandra, Ms. Photographer! ;)

I’m a little slow! I missed the Birdie episode, too….how incredibly awful and upsetting. :( People’s cruelty astounds me.

Oh, and thanks for including a link to my neon round-up!! :) xo

Thanks Gina, it drove me a little nuts, now I’m getting calmer about it!
