Poppy Flowers Summer DIY Craft Painting Project for Kids with Coffee Filters

It’s hard to believe what you can make with coffee filters! This is a very fun and easy project with beautiful, fail-proof results. Make this eye-popping Merimekko inspired pattern and frame it for your wall. Kids and grownups both will love painting on coffee filters. Serisously, it is mesmerizing. The paint gets soaked up and it’s just so cool to watch the colors blend.

Supplies:

~ Coffee filters – 8″. I ironed mine flat. Make sure you use low heat and cover the filters with a cloth. Please don’t burn your house down.

~ Liquid watercolors, brushes, glass of water, damp sponge.

~ Printout of poppy photographs to observe while painting.

~ Paper towel. Bounty is the most absorbent. Put this under the filters to soak up some of the paint.

~ A large piece of paper or poster board. I used toned gray paper, 18” x 24”.

~ Rubber cement.

How to:

There’s really not much to this. Paint your poppies. Let them dry. Cut them out, leaving a small white border. Arrange them on your paper, making sure to have some hanging off the edge to give the appearance of a repeat pattern. Use rubber cement to glue them down. I like to put the rubber cement on both the poppy and the paper. I let both dry, then I put one on top of the other. This is actually the best way to use rubber cement. It will never come off. When you’ve finished gluing them down, trim the edges. Now you are finished!

Next we are going to try mums and ranunculus. I see endless floral possibilities!

I finished my project and it is hanging above my couch as we speak. It turned out alright….not as pretty as yours…but its uniquely mine. I sprinkled a little glitter on it to make it sparkle. Can’t wait till the Hubby gets home and sees it.
Thanks again for the great idea.

I did this with my first grader today as an art project to go along with our study of WW1 (we homeschool). It was wonderful and fun and now we also have a piece of meaningful and beautiful handmade art to hang in our schoolroom! Thank you so much for the project!

Love this idea! Definitely could tie into memorial/veterans day themes and symbolism of poppies.

Two sided ones are great for transparent surfaces where you
caan see both the sides of the surface like glass, transparent plastic etc.
The next step is to put the eliminate logo in a very noticeable and prominent area from the apron. Decal documents convetsely keep its white background just like regular sticker labels as
well as for this, decal papers are usually made use of being put into photos in addition to dark backgrounds.
