Color Vacuum Color Games for Kids - iPad and iPhone App

You know  me, I’m a geeky designer artsy type. So I looooooove color. I might even need a couple extra “o’s” to make my point. Because I really really loooooooooove color. Which means the Color Vacuum App intrigued me as soon as I saw it’s name.

The steampunk elements are a hidden fascination of mine, all the funny gears and old school styling are an added bonus with this app. Turn the levers, toggle those buttons – it makes it super fun for kids to fiddle with. I’ll admit, it took Birdie and me a little bit of time to figure out exactlywhat the Color Vacuum App actually does … so I suppose you want me to tell you that too? Use the app to extract the real-life colors from anything in front of your iDevice’s camera. It pulls the color into a little floating bubble on the screen. Once you’ve gathered up lots of different bubbles, it’s time to play games with them. Either search for matching colors, or try to recreate those colors using addition and subtraction of other colors.  It’s a fascinating – and addictive – approach to color theory. Especially considering it keeps even my 4 year old occupied.

I rarely buy games, but this looked like fun (no, I don’t have kids and I lie to children when they ask, “Do you have games on your phone??”).

I think it’s great fun just for me too – no need to have to kids!
