By the time the 4th of July rolls around, I’m often feeling a little bucolic and a whole lot of nostalgic. Here in the US, we’ve been celebrating this holiday forever and ever. It gives this time of year a timeless quality. I remember my small town fireworks – where we watched one firework at a time, I remember my first really big fireworks display in a big city with an orchestra, I remember going with friends, I remember making out, I remember missing them when I was too sick to go, I remember the first time watched them with Birdie. With a holiday this engrained in the fabric of your life, you can map out your life by your fourth of July’s.
Maybe that’s why I’m alos feeling nostalgic for the most classic of outdoor toys – as Birdie’s pool and her bike becomes less interesting to her, we need something different to do outside (besides making mud soup and playing hopscotch, of course). I was browsing Alex and Alexa, and came across these winners. Do you think she’s ready for a bow and arrow? Hmmmmm.
