Pantone Color Cards Flashcards for Kids

Yes, Pantone is taking branding to an entirely different level these past couple of years. I remember when all they sold were swatch books, anyone else? Now there are Christmas ornaments, mugs, chairs, etc. etc. etc. It’s cool, and my geeky designer side went ahead and geeked out in the beginning. But part of me just felt like it was all a bit much. Then I saw these new books for the younger set.

See, branding that makes sense is an entirely different ball of wax. Or string, Or, whatever. These books actually make tons of sense. Designers want smart babes, they want kids who know color inside out, and they most definitely want kids who will  know it better than my husband after his last trip to the paint store without me. I digress.

These books teach the basics, plus tints, shades, fun color and shape associations, and lots of those funny Pantone names that I never remember, but maybe now I might. I think I’d choose the Pantone Color Flashcards first. But I’m loving the grid color layouts of the Pantone Colors Board Book, and the diecut shapes used in the Pantone Box of Color Board Books are very clever too.

I can’t help but looking at my super duper out of date Pantone swatch books, and thinking maybe these inexpensive children’s books could help me in a color matching pinch. Anyone else have that thought? Hm.

This is coming from a graphic design geek who owns a Pantone coffee mug: I love them! I remember how excited I was when I saw my toddler playing with the Pantone: Colors book at daycare. I look forward to buying the mini color board books. Thanks for sharing!

LOL, the mugs are some of my favorites – and what an awesome daycare to have the Pantone Color Books!

I love almost everything that Pantone does, especially now that they are getting into kid books. We just bought the colors board book.
