Ok, so really all I want to talk about is prepping for Alt Summit. But since I know that’s a really boring topic unless you’re A) a blogger, B) going to Alt or have been to Alt, and C) know me well enough to care, I’m trying to reign it all in. Though I do sometimes wonder if most of my readers are actually bloggers themselves (this community can be a bit insular, don’t you think?) I don’t want to bore my “millions” of readers who don’t know what Alt Summit is. And you don’t have to know, that’s ok.
In fact, I was truly put in my place a couple days ago when I realized my chiropractor doesn’t even know what Pinterest IS. Pinterest, by the way, is the topic I’ll be speaking on at Alt Summit. So uh, yeah, it’s important to me in a big way – but not to most people. It was a very refreshing reminder: we can obsess about our passions, and yet many people don’t even know such things exist.
Round about the internet this week:
- I have a thing for unique birdhouses, via Notcot.
- Why don’t we have magazines like this? via Corby Tindersticks.
- I love the colors, I love the theme, I love art. via Artsy Forager.
- Teehee, monsters make me happy! via Funkytime.
- Give it up for local blogger Deuce Cities Henhouse, she made it to Design*Sponge!
- It’s a little absurd, a citified meditation app, and yet I think I might try it. via Swiss Miss.

Thanks so much for the shout-out! It’s so funny the things that become such a normal ( and important! ) part of our lives and businesses as bloggers that other folks have no clue about. Though I confess to singing the praises of Pinterest often! Wish I was going to Alt and could hear you speak! We move so much that we never know where we’ll be when Alt comes around, making it pretty impossible to plan. Hope you have a fantastic & successful conference!
Hi Lesley, thanks! I’m trying not be nervous about speaking, it’s been awhile since I worked with an audience! Wish you could make it Alt too, would love to meet someday!
