ten mother's day gifts - designer mom gifts

Mother’s Day is coming! Some of us – ahem, probably the mothers – are well aware of this. In fact, it seemed the perfect chance to pull together a list of gift ideas, culled from some very fabulous mommas. So, without further delay, let me introduce you to some moms with amazing gift ideas:

(above)Eva Jorgensen
Sycamore Street Press
Eva uses her vintage letterpress to make the loveliest cards, prints and more – all under the Sycamore Street Press brand which is sold around the world. She has a super savvy approach to Pinterest which leaves me in awe, and is the mom of 2 glorious littles.

  • Paper Plate Bunny Purse DIY, Mer Mag – This is one of my favorites too, and a perfect project for dads and kids to make together.
  • Milk Decoration Magazine – Whether a single issue or a subscription, it’s the perfect gift for discerning eyes like mom’s.

Traci French
Bliss Blog and Mavenhaus
Traci has one of the most stylish “eyes” I know, with a mega massive Pinterest following and a stunning collection of fashion and style picks on her blog to boot. She’s also the mom to two amazing kiddos.

  • Bud Vase Set, Heath Ceramics – “I am so obsessed …it is inspired by the flora of Iceland.  We are headed there this summer and I am so, so excited.”
  • Brass Cuff, Jook and Nona – ” My brass cuff…is one of my most favorite things.”

Jennifer Vallez
Sophie & Lili
Jennifer  creates adorable printed handmade dolls – with recent collaborations including Land of Nod and North American Bear. She has the perfect combination of designerly style, illustrative ease, and business savvy. I’m watching her star rise so fast, and she deserves every minute of it.

  • La Tropezienne Tote, Clare Vivier – The kind of stunning bag you’ll own for eons, and yet never look anything less than stylish.
  • Ciela Bangle, Sarah Chloe at Bauble Bar – Super simple cuff with that whiff of class, and of course, a place for the names of your littles.

Alyssa Kerbel
Mini Mioche
Alyssa is the owner of the kids clothing line Mini Mioche, an organic/eco-friendly line made entirely in Canada. She’s clearly super fashionable (and also manages a wholesale fashion agency!) and is the proud mom to 2 adorable kids!

  • Eternity Spun Rings, Erin Tracy – “I don’t expect to actually receive this for Mother’s Day but a girl can dream right?”
  • Popsicle Stick Frames DIY, Eighteen 25 – “I selected this fun popsicle stick photo frame that I thought my daughter might be able to do (with a little help).”

Mari Richards (that’s me!)
Small for Big
Oh hello there, yep, it’s me! I’m a blogger, designer, illustrator, writer, and mom to my favorite girl in the whole wide world, aka Birdie.

  • DIY Lacing Bookmark, Handmade Charlotte – My favorite gifts for Birdie are the ones she makes – and the things she loves making. I know she would be fascinated with the clean outcomes of this lacing project.
  • Nameplate bracelet, Shop Luca – I love that this bracelet has room both for Birdie’s name, and also her birthdate!

So, from this petite but worthy sampling, I think we can pull together the following “statistics”:

  • 4 out of 5 mons want some shiny  jewelry.
  • 3 out of 5 months want a golden cuff bracelet with some personal meaning.
  • 5 out of 5 moms don’t really want flowers or chocolates?
  • 5 out of 5 of moms have excellent taste!
