National Geographic Kids Animal Jam Printable Toys - Online Games for Kids - DIY Printable Toys

Animal Jam, in association with National Geographic, and Small for Big are starting a great new partnership! I’ll be creating printable animal toys for you to download, print, and assemble your own animals and environments: with a different land and its animals featured each month. Today marks the beginning of the series!

Animal Jam, in association with National Geographic, is an online virtual playground for kids. Players create and customize their own animal characters and dens, chat with friends, adopt pets, team up for adventures, ask real scientists questions, and feed their curiosity about animals and the natural world around them. All the educational content is free, though there is a membership option for additional play.

The game includes several different lands to explore. This month, I’m featuring the land of Appondale, which focuses on the savannah. You can download and print the lion, elephant, a treehouse, rocks and shrubs to create your own adventure. Let’s get started!

Download the Appondale Printable Paper Toys.

To make the elephant and lion:

  • Cut out the elephant, lion, and lion’s mane.
  • Fold the tails, legs, and heads down.
  • Glue the tabs between the back legs.
  • Glue the tabs under the mouths.
  • For the lion, add the main around the neck, and glue that tab to the top of the neck/back.
  • Now play!

To make the treehouse:

  • Cut out the treehouse.
  • Cut the slits into each of the side tabs, slide them together to form a ring at the base of the tree.
  • Now play!

To make the rocks and shrubs:

  • Cut out the pieces.
  • Fold the side tabs back to stand them up.
  • Now play!

Have fun with these everyone, I can’t wait to hear about all of your adventures!

Did you ever make more of these? My daughter is turning 8 in April and she wants an Animal Jam party!! Of course though they don’t have anything Animal Jam so I’m sitting here doing DIY decorations for it. I love these foldable animals which I think will add an extra Jamtastic look to the tables :)

That’s a great idea Melody! I’d have to really think on that one though – paper doesn’t usually hold up on a bigger scale. I’ll definitely keep it in mind!
