to play, or not to play with your food

Game board game plate melamine dinnerware for your kids

As a general rule, most parents I know would probably agree that we shouldn’t play with our food at the dinner table. And yet, when Birdie decides her half-eaten bread is shaped like a dinosaur – ROAR – I usually go with it.

Maybe that’s why this Dinner Winner plate makes me smile so much. This goal-oriented plate might be just the ticket for your meandering, slow poke eater. I know our girl could take an hour to eat if we let her: between the stories, the trips to the bathroom, the fiddling, etc. Maybe a little playtime, within reason, would get the job done faster?

I’m of two minds. Because at the same time I’m totally crushing on these gorgeously minimal – and eco-friendly – plate and bowl sets by Biobu. They feel like the Heath Ceramics of the kiddie set. And since I don’t want my kiddo breaking my future set of Heath Ceramics dinnerware, Biobu could be a practical and beautiful solution.

What about you, which way do your dinnertime aesthetics lean?
