When I was pregnant with Birdie, I was obsessed with knitting her as many things as I could before she arrived. It was the best way I could think of to show my love for her when I had no other way except for hugging my own belly. Now, of course, if I have time to knit her a new hat I consider myself lucky! But, there’s something so wonderful about making things for your own kids, isn’t there?
I’ve loved Wool and the Gang for awhile now, but it was for their adult knitwear lines. Have you seen their newer kids and baby items? Obviously they’re very fashionable, using gorgeous quality yarns. But you can also choose whether you knit the item yourself, or order it readymade by them.
Wool and the Gang’s knit kits are pretty unique too. I’m working on the women’s Sonic Sweater right now , and the instructions are super straightforward – even basic, and come neatly stored in a little file folder, even including large tapestry needles for finishing the item. The yarn is, of course, luscious. The knitting needles (optional) are gorgeous pieces of wood, with cute branding and a smooth finish. It’s high quality from start to finish (I hope the quality of my knitting can keep up with the equipment!). I kind of want to knit one of everything they design – which would probably take years!
