STEM works for Kids - Subscription Boxes for Girls - Science Projects for Kids | Small for Big

When life gives you lemons, make more than lemonade. Support the next generation of female scientists with StemBox powered by Green Works!

With only 1 in every 1,000 girls pursuing STEM careers, Green Works is looking for unique and fun ways to continue inspiring young girls to pursue a career in science. Through a partnership with StemBox, a monthly subscription service aimed at young girls that delivers hands on science experiments to their front door, the brand is doing just that.

Monthly subscription boxes are all the rage these days, and I’ve tried a couple of them. But I think my current favorite has to be these boxes of experimentation and learning. Birdie couldn’t wait to open her Stembox, and had a blast putting it all together. In fact we actually had a great time working on it as a team – I honestly had no idea lemons could create a battery. (somehow potatoes I knew about, but lemons, no?) Once we followed the directions an our lightbulb lit up (SO COOL!), we kept playing and experimenting with other set-ups and solutions. It was perfect.

Each box contains all the ingredients necessary to complete your experiment (well, except the lemons, we had to provide those!) Instructions walk you through the process step by step, and you’re off and running in no time. Birdie has already asked that we get next month’s box – sounds good to me!

As a continuing supporter of girls in STEM, Green Works knows great things happen when women get involved in science. Years ago, a dedicated, female scientist Maria Ochomogo led the team that created the laundry and household cleaners that make-up today’s Green Works line. A portion of proceeds from each March Green Works StemBox subscription will be donated to AAUW, The American Association of University Women, to continue their work of empowering women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
