I love to knit. It’s one of the most zen crafts I’ve ever done, and it really is the thing I turn to when I need to relax. Plus, I love that I can follow someone else’s vision and turn out amazing projects with a little less thought than my usual approach to making things.
So I’m pleased as punch to share with you this new book, Knitting Without Needles, by my friend Anne Weil. I’m so proud of what she’s created with this book – and it fills a hole in the knitting books world, which is kind of hard to do these days! I’m participating in the Great American Pouf Tour. What’s that? Bloggers across the country are showing off just how beautiful Anne’s pouf looks from within our own studios.
My studio is in flux at the moment, and currently involves sitting on my sofa! (we’re moving my setup to a new area of the house, and things are moving glacially slow!) Lucky for me, this pouf is the perfect height for my feet, or as a laptop perch when I’m working on the floor (which I do pretty regularly!). This fabulous floor pouf was made with Cascade Magnum yarn.
Have you tried arm knitting or finger knitting? I’d played with it a little, but to be honest, I was really underwhelmed by the taste level of the projects out there. There wasn’t anything that fit my modern aesthetic. Knitting Without Needles is just what I’d dreamed of: modern projects for your home, stylish accessories (I will be making all of the hats!), playful projects, and some fun explorations in material and method.
I love every single project in this book. And that’s saying something – normally I like about half of a given publication! Projects are totally DIYable – with great how-tos and lots of photos explaining things step by step. They’re also perfect for kids and adults. Plus, the oversized knitting means these projects are super quick to make and perfect for your upcoming Holiday gift lists!
