You have hopefully seen the amazing Maps Book by Aleksandra Mizielinska and Daniel Mizielinski. It’s one of those amazing illustrated children’s books that we simply had to have. You too? I sure hope so!
Because now, Candlewick Press has added even more to the Maps Book Series. They already published the Maps Activity Book last year – which is full of really playful, coloring-book prompts that let your kids do a little learning without even realizing what’s happening. Next up?
Now, they’ve added the Maps Poster Book. It’s the perfect companion to the original book. Birdie has already pulled out the Egypt map (the girl still loves her Ancient Egypt lore) and hung it right by her bed so she can see it every night. She told me she’ll play “I Spy” with it when she can’t fall asleep, and learn where everything is!
The maps are easy to tear out, and the backside of each individual country map shows where that country is within the world (for example, the outline of Egypt is highlighted on the African Continent). All you need is a simple wood slack hanger to have a rotating collection of maps on the wall at any given moment. Change it up to suit the season, or your child’s interest-of-the-week. I have a feeling Egypt will remain a favorite map at our house for awhile yet!
A big thank you to Candlewick Press for providing these books for our review – as always, my opinions are my own.
