I may be an artist, but I think my favorite little girl, Birdie, may be a scientist. Which means this latest book by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts is a must for our growing collection.
Ada Twist, Scientist is the third in a series of books by this author-illustrator duo. You might be familiar with Iggy Peck, Architect, and Rosie Revere, Engineer? Both of which are stellar reads, by the way. I particularly love Rosie’s message to not give up even if someone laughs at you, or when things don’t go the way you plan. That’s a big theme at our house!
Ada Twist, Scientist is a scientist with an insatiable curiosity. “Why are there pointy things stuck to a rose? Why are there hairs growing inside your nose?” The rhyming in this book sounds just as fun and roll-off-the-tongue hilarious as the others! Inspired by real-life makers such as Ada Lovelace and Marie Curie, Ada’s curiosity doesn’t always lead to answers, but to more questions. And her family learns to love her for her curiosity, just as she is. I can’t wait to add this to our reading rotation! (especially now that Birdie can read it on her own!)
