This week has just flown right by me, and suddenly my eager early Christmas/Holiday to-do lists feel not so early, and not done in the slightest. Every year I think I’ll get a head start on things, and every year I realize it’s not gonna happen! You know, things like handmade cards and gifts. Something inspirational like the creatures above.
Can you believe it’s Thanksgiving next week? I’m so excited to spend time with family and eat my favorite food: stuffing. This weekend I think we’ll be researching some menu ideas – it’s a little complicated at my house because my husband makes the main meal (the turkey is his domain, thank heavens), and I make several separate gluten, dairy, and egg-free items for me. But it’s worth it to eat some of my favorite flavors. Time to locate my gluten-free vegan pumpkin pie recipe! (It’s good, I swear!) What’s your biggest Thanksgiving tradition? Most unusual meal? Share with us!
This week’s weekend links to keep you going:
- (image above) Blanca Helga’s mixed media illustrations are so sweet and intelligent at the same time, really enjoying them. Thanks to Handmade Charlotte.
- I’m frantically trying to decide how to make an advent calendar for Birdie this year. Thank god I saw Paul & Paula’s Top 8 Advent Calendar post (and her beautiful handmade advent calendar) to get me inspired!
- More DIY? I’ve got to find some time to make a fun vintage-y girls DIY Flower Collar like this beautiful thang from Diaper Style Memoirs. I think I’d make one in a solid color – or all white? Let’s hope she adds a tutorial!
- Let’s continue that DIY vibe, and check out the how-to for these 3D Paper Ball Ornaments from How About Orange. Great idea, and so classic.
- Adorable DIY toilet paper puppets and Owly Christmas Ornaments found on Pinterest. Who knew TP could be so dang cool?
- And while I’m doing all that DIY above, when Birdie starts whining, I’ll be visiting this very useful post: Dealing with Whining:The Do’s and Don’ts. Thanks for the link Lil Magoolie! Don’t worry though, I know better than to do anything for me when Birdie is actually awake!
