It's all about the combos

has some fun resources at their website. This pic is from a series of images showcasing their contributor’s kid’s rooms. Isn’t this a great example of how to mix old and new? One of my biggest pet peeves is rooms that look like they were put together overnight from a furniture store. Who really buys those 8 piece sets advertised in the Sunday paper? Seriously. Here we can see they’ve pulled from their own history, reinterpreting a hutch as a changing table (love that), and yet splurged on a unique crib (good choice from a safety perspective as well). Plus that gorgeous rug paired with pink swirly wallpaper? Outstanding! It makes me look at my more modern daughter’s room – which I love – and wish I’d had more time to hunt down a couple vintage elements. But at the time I was too sick, and practicality has its place as well. I’m choosing instead to add individual handmade touches, like the mobile in this room. That’s something we can all do to personalize the space going forward!
