I have always found inspiration for children’s toys in pillows. Sounds odd, maybe, but it’s true. Pillows are very focused small stuffed objects. I’ve designed a ton of small stuffed toys. Pillow designs have to exist on their own – color, palette, shape. Ditto for toys. Pillows often use innovative combinations of fabrics, patterns, and techniques. Ditto for me. My favorite pillows are those with crazy folds and creases. This velvet pouf from Urban Outfitters could entertain a baby for quite awhile, fingering all those luscious little pleats and the big button. And, it’s on sale!
