Boikido – Great French Toys You've Never Heard Of

by mari

We’re continuing last week’s post, the Top Ten Toy Trends 2010, this week by focusing on some of the cool new products out there. Today’s Feature? Wooden Toys! No surprise, I’ve posted about several wooden toys recently. It’s partly because I like them (more than I expected to actually) but it’s also because the category is growing. Yes, it’s definitely their eco appeal. But more subtly, wooden toys involve a child’s active, hands-on imagination. That’s something that computerized games and online functionality (a more passive learning experience) can’t compete with.

Boikido is a French company – I know, what’s with me and the French? I swear lately everything I post has a French connection. The company focuses on wooden toys (the name translates roughly to “wood for kids”) and sells all over the world. Lucky for my US readers and for me – they’re also avaialble at Toys’R’Us. Here’s a couple of my faves:

Boikido Four Seasons Block Puzzle, $32.99
Boikido Wooden Activity Cubes, $39.99
Boikido 50 count Wooden Blocks, $44.99
