a (non-diaper) bag of your own

Kinies Handmade Ruffled Wasit Purse

This post is for the mommas (and those who give GIFTS to mommas!). I’ve realized that though I spend a lot of time with our diaper bag, it’s just not suited to quick trips to the store, or long weekend sojourns with husband, stroller, bags, food, and kid (I swear he alway has the diaper bag and my wallet or phone right when I need it most). I need a lightweight option for carrying my essentials: iPhone, keys, wallet, and biz cards (hey, gotta promote the blog!). And it has to be practical enough to not get in the way, fall off, or cause other hassles when also carrying Birdie! Tall order? Yep, I’m like that a lot. But I’ve found a couple of options that would work perfectly. To start, I nabbed a simple crossbody wallet from Target’s new Hollywood Intuition series (mine’s in black, but this silver one is fun too). Luckily a girl can never have enough bags, so these are next on my list:

Above: Kinies Ruffled Waist Purse in Leatherette has been on my lust list for awhile. It may be time to indulge myself. Look at how versatile this is?! No matter how I’m carrying Birdie, this bag has a place to rest itself. And I think it will be the perfect “belt” for a couple of dresses that fit a little, er, differently since she arrived and changed my midriff forever. (oh, and it also comes in a kid’s size!)

Below: Mini Orange Leather Envelope Bag (with two straps) in a delicious color – I’m a firm believer in not matching your bag to anything your wearing, won’t you join me? (But I believe other colors are available if you need them.) It’s a cross-body bag as well, but I love wearing essentials around the waist too – you can do this with any adjustable strap, lightweight purse. And lastly, for the pattern lovers, we have the Sew New Expandabag. I really do like bright colors don’t I? But it’s the unique shape of this bag that has me interested. Plus, it looks super easy to wear.

What do you think? Which bag would you pick? Or, which bag do you own that works best for your day to day? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
