Frameicarium Ant Art Colonies for your wall by Hugh Hayden

What can I say. It’s been another week. Another week where my to do list grew bigger even as I crossed things off. Where I cleaned too many dirty dishes and only enjoyed some of the meals that were on them. Where I giggled with my little Birdie both before and after diaper changes. But, somewhere in the middle of the mundane there were moments. When she looked me in the eye and said Mom for the hundredth time, but it caught me just so. Or hanging out in the backyard looking desperately for a few acorns that the squirrels missed while watching her clutch her dandelion bouquet in both hands. Trying to pick out a little good instead of a little bad. The usual.

How was your week? Did you manage to snatch back a couple of those mundane moments and shine them up just so?

And to end things on an even higher note, here’s this week’s favorite links:

  • (image above) A cool art installation of art and ant colonies – a.k.a. Frameicariums. I kind of want to make my own, but only after I find a pet snail. (no, seriously.) via Inhabitots.
  • The most adorable photos of Kiki and Coco (a girl and her doll from Jess Brown I think?) gives me dreams of improbable and illogical trips to Paris with my future self and older daughter. Check out their perfect slideshow with the perfect music as well, such a classic. Via Erin.Ever.After.
  • Toys that reinforce fine art are always tops on my list. So obviously the Masterpiece Cube Puzzle has now joined that list. via KidCrave.
  • I’m still in love with poufs for home decor purposes – I also hear they do double duty when it comes to kids and playtime – and my latest poufottoman find is extra cool because it’s knit up with strips of jersey cotton. Nice.
  • In honor of Birdie’s current plastic buckle obsession (she stands at her highchair and fusses over them forever) this DIY Clipping Toy may be on my project list soon. (you know, the list that never gets started, much less completed.) via Quirky Momma.
