(I suddenly seem to have a bit of stage fright. Babble.com’s Top 50 Design Blogs Rating has me a wee bit leary. Don’t judge me on just one post ok? Promise you’ll go and read several and take the best from each before you decide what you think of Small for Big? Ok. Thanks.)
When we first found out we were pregnant, I couldn’t help but hope we’d have a little girl. I have a feeling that’s pretty common – I’m a girl, so therefore, I know girls, right? But. And this is a big But. I never intended to have a pink-frills-princess-unicorns-glitter-ruffles-dresses-girl. I wanted the crafty part, the dreamer side, the sweat eyelashes and the hair to braid. But pink? Nope. Ruffled skirts? Not particularly. Maybe the shoes, I am a shoe aficionado – and that easily translates into the littlest sizes.
But when my very good mommy friend (who’s now pregnant with a girl!) showed me these uber-ruffled Pettiskirts from Dream Spun Kids I realized there are some girl-things that are universal. I want one. I mean, I want one for Birdie, of course. I could attempt to argue that these skirts have so many ruffles that they go beyond your basic girly skirt and into the realm of make-believe. I could tell you that, artistically speaking, you can customize the skirt by choosing your own color combinations of up to 4 different colors. I could mention that the skirts are elasticized and adjustable, so they’ll last you for more than just one party or one season. But really? We all know we do not need the reasons why. We just need the Pettiskirt. The only rule I’m sticking to? Birdie’s Pettiskirt will not be pink.

I’m kinda diggin’ the red right now… thinking Flamenco inspired Pettiskirt for a spicey little girl! ; )
Sam, thanks again for showing these skirts to me! I can totally see your future girl in red – with maybe some orange and purple layers underneath!
My daughter would die for one of these!!!!! Any color! They are a girly-girl’s dream! (And I can already see my husband’s cringe!) Love it!
See, this is why I’m thinking we need to get pettiskirts as part of halloween costumes. It’s one less hurdle (a husband, for instance) to cross!
Awww, thanks for showing off Dreamspun’s pettiskirts. You made our day!
i so wish i had one when i was little and I have two sons… to fulfill my childhood fantasy, i bought one of these but in pink (sorry…there was no other choice) for my neighbor’s 5-year old daughter. that gave both of us a looooot of pleasure! :)
