Toy GIft Guides and GIveaways for kids ages 5 and up

Oooh the goodies I have for you today! How’s your week going? Are these giveaways cheering you up a little bit? Or maybe the gift guides are helping you out – I hope so.

It’s about time we talk about the older kids on your list, the ones that can be the hardest to shop for! I’ve got a few giveaway items that would make great gifts for the various tough cookies on your list. Plus, of course, there is a matching gift guide for kids over 5 years old that will hopefully knock your socks off:

Small for Big’s Annual Holiday Gift Guide for Tweens: (ages 5 +)

I suppose you’d like to hear more about our fabulous Haul-away Holiday Giveaway of the day? Behind doors number 1, 2, and 3 you’ll find fabulous prizes: a unique puzzle for the older kids from Ceaco, the newest in DIY crafty kids from Makedo, and some gorgeous wool adult + kid mittens from Oeuf.

We will pick one winner for each of these prizes – that’s three chances to win!

  1. Oeuf Squeeze-Me Mittens, valued at $60. Oeuf had me long ago for their fair-trade practices, and unbelievably sweet but modern designs. These mittens are brilliant – keep your child’s hands and yours together with 1 pair instead of 2. What a beautiful gift for the parents of kids as well!
  2. Makedo connector creator kits – 1 Freeplay, and 1 playhouse, valued at $50. These innovative sets provide the safe tools and connectors to spark the creative juices in kids. Open-ended instructions help kids jumpstart creative projects and let them go from there.
  3. Baffler modern puzzle from Ceaco, valued at $10. This puzzle is rather unusual. It’s round, with curved pieces and odd little nooks and crannies. And it’s a blast. Though, I can only say that because we were willing to cheat and look at the picture while we completed it. Best for kids over 12. Check out the video here to learn more about it.

How to enter – Mandatory:

  1. Visit Oeuf and tell us which product is your favorite in the comments below.
  2. Visit Ceaco and tell us which product is your favorite in the comments below.
  3. Tell us what your kids would make if they had a Makedo kit in the comments below.

How to enter – additional entries (one comment per entry):

  1. Sign up to get your daily kids’ picks with Small for Big’s daily emails, then comment here.
  2. “Like” Small for Big on Facebook, then comment here.

This giveaway will open starting Thursday, December 2nd through Wednesday night, December 8th, at 11:59 EST. The three winners will be announced on Thursday, December 9th with the help of the lovely and amazing random.org (3 numbers will be drawn, and the corresponding comments will win)

oeuf- i’m not sure there’s a way that i could choose my favorite. i love everything on their site. from the furniture to the clothing, every piece is clean lined and perfect! the mittens are especially sweet though!

makedo – wow. i can see finley going crazy with this. i don’t think i’d see him for days if i gave him a set of these! i’m sure he’d build some sort of crazy fort or vehicle. adding it to his wish-list right now just in case i don’t win!

ceaco – again, i think finley would go nuts for this puzzle. he’s a total puzzle freak. i like the round nature of this one. something different, especially for a little guy who’s done a million square puzzles at this point! ;)

Ouef – The SPARROW TRUNDLE bed is great… I like that you can use the bottom bed as a drawer.

Makedo – This is the best coolest toy thing I’ve seen in a long time. Facilitating imagination and inventiveness rather than just a toy with a button to push is useful and important for kids’ growth. My kid would probably just suck on the parts, but my niece would make a pterodactyl or something probably.

Ceaco – I’m not sure I understand what the Pieceless Puzzles are, but they sound very interesting… good for kids AND my grandma :)

Ceaco- I think I gotta try that Baffler puzzle

The Baffler advertisement is hilarious! They sound possibly Canadian?
I like how the focus is on the shapes themselves and less on the “bigger picture”… very unique!

The Makedo kits are so cool! Open-ended construction and focus on humble materials, love it. I like that the prices are reasonable. Wow, I love the racecar, I love that it actually comes with “car parts” I can just see my husband and Stian put this together! : )
