vintage children's tin tea cup sets

We’re having a wonderful vintage moment today thanks to the uber-charming Fiona Richards. Fiona and I have the oddest little things in common, like the same last name. But besides the cool coincidences which endear her to me, Fiona is an amazing blogger, designer, and business woman. She runs Cartolina Cards, created the very cool Cartolina Cards iPhone App (a must-have), and of course, her Cafe Cartolina Blog. She has an unerring eye for the beautiful yet quirky in all things vintage and new. Like today’s post, for instance. Please help me welcome Fiona!

vintage tin treasures

Hello! Fiona here from Cafe Cartolina and Cartolina Cards. You may or may not know that we are all about vintage at Cartolina. But not just any vintage we love curious vintage – the beautiful and the odd! I recently ran across these tin toys and was so intrigued and impressed by them. I’d never seen these tiny tea cups and saucers before, though my husband says that there was a set at his grandma’s farm that had been there since probably the 40s. I’m a big fan of vintage tea caddies so the graphics and colours on these pieces really appeal to me. They are very simple and durable and just the right size for tiny hands. I love that these vintage pieces have survived long after the plastic sets!

And for the boys we have this wonderful set of vintage tin shovels from the Ohio Art Company. I’m sure there were pretty tinbuckets to go with these shovels but after a few trips to the beach I’m sure the bottoms will have rusted right through and they’ve probably been discarded.

All of these pieces are for sale at Sushipot Parts

Make sure to visit Fiona over at Cafe Cartolina, Cartolina Cards, and follow her on Twitter and Facebook!

If they weren’t so rusty I would probably have already bought them for Birdie to play with – but, you know. Trying to be safe ;)
