Modern Themis Mobile Nursery Decor for babies and kids

Well, potty training isn’t going so well at the moment. Birdie is finishing up a cold, plus she just doesn’t seem interested and I’m not going to force it (that appears to be rule numero uno). Still, we’re enjoying some craftiness and laziness and music and dreary indoor weather together which is nice until she drives me nuts! More importantly, I’m really enjoying the guest posters this week – today we have Bess from The English Muffin Blog. Her blog is full of sweetness – things that are almost as good as english muffins slathered with butter, and her illustrations are definitely even better than muffins. We’re totally sympatico too – today’s post features items I’m envying already. Please welcome Bess!

Hello Small for Big readers! I’m so happy to be guest posting here today. Having been a fan of Miz Big’s blog for some time, I was racking my brain (and bookmarks) for something fun, unique and SfB-worthy to share with you. After a very cold and snowy Winter here in Montreal, Canada, I thought I would round up a few of my favourite pieces perfect for brightening up a nursery or kid’s room. I know that I could certainly use an infusion of colour in my life, I’m already dreaming of popsicles and rainbows. How ’bout you?

(image up above!) The Themis Mobile, designed by Clara von Zweigbergk, was inspired by the geometric design of the polygon. The mobile is made up of five multi-faceted ornaments, each with its own distinctive colour palette. Perfect for a modern kid’s room.

While these hand painted sticks by Canadian artist Ginette Lapalme are not for sale, I thought they would be a really fun DIY project to do with some kids. You could select paint colours to match the current decor of your child’s room and let them go to town. Stripes, patterns, solid colours – as you can see, anything goes!

Who wouldn’t love to cozy up to Kevin the Caterpillar? He’d make a great friend to snuggle up with while reading a book a sunny Spring day. Kevin’s got some shorter friends too, all knitted from lambswool and stuffed with polyester filling.

I love this colourful abstract print from Twoems on Etsy, it reminds me of the ever elusive double rainbow! Towems is a wonderful artist and has many bright and bold prints in their repertoire.

Thanks for having me on the blog today, Miz Big, and I wish you all a bright and sunshine-y day!

Totally agree, I think it’s something I could enjoy doing even during Birdie’s naptime ;)
