Birdie Learns to Fly

Do you remember that little sneak peek I gave you last week? It’s time for the big reveal! I finally finished writing and illustrating my first children’s book: Birdie Learns to Fly. This is a project I’ve been wanting to work on for years. Luckily, the leaps and bounds in technology have made it easy to create a book and see it published too. I used Blurb’s software, which I’ve always loved (we have some amazing photo books of Birdie’s first year thanks to them too, now I just have to catch up with years 2,3, and 4!). Even better, they’re an Alt Summit sponsor, and offered all attendees a free book. It was the perfect time to try out my ideas.

Birdie Learns to Fly is the story of little Birdie, who has decided today she will learn to fly. The only problem is that, like most kids, she thinks she’ll be able to do it without any practice. My daughter is always telling me she already knows how to do things. Unfortunately reality makes it clear that the knowledge she thinks she has is theoretical at best. The story continues through her various attempts and frustrations, learning from her mom that you must “Try again to try, then you will learn to fly!”.
