As you’re reading this, we are somewhere on the North Carolina coast celebrating at a destination wedding. I hope we’re having a blast, because I sure intend to have a blast! One thing I’m sure of, we need lots of different things to help ensure that Birdie has a blast too. So, I’m gathering up some of our current favorites and recent finds to keep things running smoothly for those in-between times. If you have some great recommendations for videos and apps – I’d love to hear them, let us know in the comments!
- The Dax Channel on Vimeo – a list of alternative videos for kids from a discenring dad.
- 2o Kid-Friendly YouTube Channels – With obvious gems like Sesame Street and PBS Kids, and less obvious finds like the Muppets Studio and more.
- KidProof on Vimeo – Kid-safe videos of all kinds.
- Yummiloo App – Learn about growing food, composting, and making rainbows with a rainbow machine. Birdie loves this one.
- Barefoot World Atlas App – I haven’t shown this one to Birdie yet, but I’m excited to explore and learn more with her. A perfect app for travelling too!
- Bugs and Buttons/Bugs and Bubbles Apps – Both of these are winners. They include several games in each, and really approach learning numbers/colors and basic games for kids in a grand way. They keep Birdie occupied for a significant amount of time.
- Plus, check out this great blog, The Kid Should See This, for tons of unique video finds.
And with that, I’m off to go sit on the beach. At least, I hope that’s what’s happening right now! See you next week …

I really think, in moderation, that iPads are a great thing for kids. Make sure to check out the Library tab at the top of the blog to see some of our fave iPad apps – and enjoy!!!
