DIY Mother's Day Gift - Upcycled Craft Projects - DIY Vase for Moms | Small for Big

One of my favorite things to do is wander the aisles of a good thrift store – and I know a lot of my fellow DIYers have the same fascination! I’m partnering with Savers this year to bring you some fun – and easy – upcycled projects that give us the perfect excuse to go thrifting. There are always tons of items and treasures at Savers that can become the start of some unique DIY projects.

It’s especially important now because it’s Earth Month, and we all know that reusing and upcycling is the perfect way to keep things out of landfills. For Earth Month, Savers is encouraging people to Rethink Reuse and help keep clothing and other items out of landfills. With Mother’s Day coming up fast and furious, this project is the perfect chance to get the kiddos involved with an easy project to give to Moms and Grandmas.

It’s so easy, all you need:

  • Ceramic Vase
  • Paint Pens – metallic are particularly fun!
  • Pencil
  • Flowers!

First, clean off your vase and make sure it’s dry.

I doodled some face ideas on scrap paper before I chose my favorite look.

Then, use a pencil to lay out your face on your vase.

Trace the lines with your paint pens.

Follow the directions on your pens – some require baking in the oven to cure them. The metallic pen that I used doesn’t, but I’m going to try and keep it from getting wet, just in case.

Arrange those flowers, give them to your favorite Mother, and share what you’ve made on social media with the hashtag #rethinkreuse!

A big thank you to Savers for their support of this project. As always, all opinions are my own.
