This is my favorite baby find, hands down. A play mat for a baby has been – in my house at least – a lifesaver. It’s cleaner than the floor (usually), keeps her occupied, and has become the storage area for all the extra little toys that could take over the living room. When I first started hunting for play mats, I was amazed at how expensive they’d become. Many of the “extra features” were unnecessary and distracting – plus those features were duplicates of her free-standing toys.
Ikea’s play mat is an all-in-one find: a price that doesn’t hurt your head, a design that doesn’t overwhelm you and lets your own toys stand out, simple toys that are easy to grasp, three of the toys can be switched out with your own selection, the nylon fabric is relatively easy to clean, it’s collapsible and tote-able, and the foam edges keep toys and baby in one area – for now! The arch even adds a little sun protection when it’s in front of our large window. Plus the clean design will look just fine in any room of the house (well, maybe not the bathroom).
