if I were in her shoes

Saltwater Sandals for Kids

I actually have to thank an college ex-boyfriend for this post (I won’t sidetrack into a list of all the other crappy less-cool things I’d thank him for). Greg, this one is for you and your mom. Because she wore Salt Water Sandals every summer. And I should have bought a pair that summer we spent in Portland, OR, but I was too cheap to manage it (my oh my, forty whole dollars) Then I managed to forget the name of them for years – I kept trying to look for Sand Dollar sandals. Easy mistake, no? Well, maybe you have to be in my brain to see it. I’ve looked high and low for sandals for Birdie. It’s been, sigh, a tough spring for me, with all of this shoe shopping. Luckily I finally remembered Salt Water Sandals! Minimalists design, soft rounded soles (softer in the toddler version), real leather, and so far no blisters (I read a bunch of reviews that confirmed that for me as well). But the best part may be that they’re also meant to go in the water. Yep. So you officially do. not. need. crocs.

I did get them – and really glad I did. You can see the sole is thicker than the regular salt water sandals, so I feel better about Birdie wearing them.
