Ouef Sparrow Crib - buy it second hand on the new modern consignment website ReCrib

Though I usually reserve Fridays for a wrap-up of my week. This one feels kind of like a non-event. I’m really not clear how it can be Friday already. No, seriously. Instead I’ll leave you with a funny Birdie quote.

A friend asks my 28 month old daughter, Wren:

“Wow, are you a big girl now?”

With a big proud smile, Wren replies:

“No, I Wren!”

This week’s favorite picks:

  • (image above) Most of the time I’ve learned to love where I live, but envy rears it’s ugly head when I see cool sites like ReCrib, which hosts consignment type sales on amazing modern furnishings and accessories for kids. It plans to grow, but for now, if you live in the NY or Southern CA, this site is for you!
  • Although I have the opposite problem around this house (ahem, too much art), I still love the idea behind this clever use of Tea Towels, via early mama. Maybe I can start collecting Tea Towels for my kitchen anyway, there’s some really cool ones!
  • I love everything about this white plus jewel colors room theme gathered by Coos and Aahs. But I have to admit, my favorite part by far is the crazy cool masks at the top of the post. I must have those masks.
  • I think my readers are smart enough to already be doing alot of the things on the 13 things Parents do that Inhibit Real Play, but the reminders are good. It’s a quick read, but worth it. via Having Fun at Home.
  • Made by Joel has done it again – see the easy peasy DIY bird mobile he demonstrated with Etsy’s Jakob Von Eichel. Download the templates and make make make!
  • When you’re done with that mobile, move on to this cool  toddler friendly pinata tutorial – they’ve added pull strings for the littler tykes. I’ve heard several stories of poor kids at birthday parties who couldn’t break their pinatas. Frownie face. Via Ohdeedoh.

I know…I can’t believe it’s Friday either. Last night, I was talking to hubby and said “today is Wednesday, right?” He said, “uh, no, it’s Thursday.” I totally didn’t believe him. lol So yeah, I can’t believe it’s Friday either for some reason. Anyway, I just had to say that Wren quote is adorable…I just have to crack up with some of the things they come up with. The other day my husband asked KK if she wanted a brother or sister and she said “yes!” And then he asked her, “well, which one?” And she quickly replied, “black.” lol So I guess she wants us to adopt. ;-) haha Gotta love our babies…who, sadly, aren’t quite babies anymore. Have a great weekend, Mari! xoxo

It’s so true, they grow too bleepin’ fast. I can say with certainty that at every step of the way, whatever age she’s at that day is my favorite! So, can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow, and the day after, etc!

Such a cute quote by Wren! My week went crazy fast, too. Thanks for pointing out the pinata tutorial – the last 3 birthday parties I’ve been to all had unbreakable pinatas which had to be slaughtered by the dads. One little boy burst into tears when he swung with all his might and….missed the pinata by a mile. So sad when that happens. This is such a great remedy of that situation. I’m definitely keeping this in my files for Emmy’s birthday parties. :-)

My brother was telling me the secret tactics they had to employ to break open their home-made pinata (and made to be easy to break, it still wasn’t!) at our nephew’s last birthday party, very funny. Luckily the kids didn’t seem to suspect anything in their case!
