Dan Stile Retro Graphic Illustration

I’ve been on a weird shopping rampage this week. Between hunting down a father’s day gift (having problems in that department, don’t tell my husband), and ensuring Birdie and I actually have something to wear in our warmer weather, I think I went a little overboard. Which, in turn, has totally hampered what little spring cleaning efforts I’d attempted previously – my bedroom is the aftermath of a tornado – no, a typhoon. Does anyone else have this problem? Please tell me you do.

This week’s top picks:

  • (image above) While browsing for some inspiration, this simple graphic by Dan Stiles totally captured my fancy. I wish it was available as a print so I could lurve it up close and in my face.
  • Loving the make-your-own-cardboard-everything trend? Lil’ Magoolie shares this cardboard crafts post from IkatBag that’s got a zillion and one things you should know about cardboard, lots of inspiration to get you started.
  • Oh yeah, Father’s Day is in TWO DAYS. You covered? You ready? No? As usual, Martha Stewart saves the day with a big fat 35 Father’s Day Gifts and Crafts. Phew.
  • I love it when Father’s Day Crafty Gifts are something Dad and child can share together. Stop by Modern Parent Messy Kid’s perfect roundup of Simple DIY Toys and Games. Then both parent and kid can share in the joy!
  • Another Father’s Day idea, though there isn’t a lot of time left, this family handprint embroidery sampler is a very sweet way to tie dad and child together.
  • For some retro kitschy Father’s Day Craft ideas, check out these Pom Pom Tie Guys, Dad & Me Thumbprint Mug, and Pet Rock Family Plaques. They’re super sweet – and could be vamped up a bit with some extra creativity!
