Birdie’s 4th birthday party happened owe the weekend! It was the sweetest little art soiree ever. This year we gave in to our half-finished flooring at home and had her brthday bash somewhere else for the first time. Luckily, we found Kid Create Studio. It’s a beautiful light-filled space, with bright colors, a modern aesthetic, and a plethora of creative projects to choose from. They helped her make her own adorable birthday crown out of feathers, pipe cleaners, glitter, and packing tape. Can you believe it? Who knew packing tape could turn out so gorgeous. There was a big mural on the wall that all the kids colored for her to take home. The mosaic tile project the kids created was awesome, and the instruction brilliant. I couldn’t be happier with the event, start to finish. My only wish – that it could have lasted longer!
I kept the party favors in “theme”, filling them with little notebooks, colored pencils, and printed tape from the Kid Made Modern line at Target. Thank goodness for cheap pencils! Birdie tells me the pom poms on the bags looked weird, but I don’t care, I liked them.
The weekend even included a last-minute swearing session from little ol’ me, when I realized the cake-decorating scheme I had planned was going to fail miserably. My husband was in charge of baking, and made a cream cheese frosting, instead of buttercream. Ahem. If you decorate cakes, you’ll know what that means. We need to work on our communication skills apparently. With less than an hour before her party started, I was channeling my inner Project Runway Designer to come up with some sort of something out of the random ingredients left to me. The cake itself tasted fine, I think, but the decorating scheme is … well, a fluke at best. Thank goodness we had a huge bag of leftover candy from our Gingerbread houses last month to help cover some of the bigger problem areas!
I’ll say one more Happy Birthday to my Love, my Little Girl gone Big Girl.
Happiest of Happy Birthdays Birdie!
