Janod does the best job at straddling the line between functional play patterns and whimsical, designer-friendly themes. I can almost gaurantee that any toy from Janod would be a hit in our house. I’ve noticed a couple of new (or new-to-me) options over at the Peapods website (a fave local store) and just had to share them. Right. Now.
The hands down favorite is the Owl Family Nesting Dolls. Aren’t they adorable? They’re great for younger kids to figure out relative sizes, and matching skills too. Plus, hello, they’ll be awesome on the bookshelf later.
2 – Equilibloc Wooden Stacking Tower Game is similar to the classic Jenga, but those bright colors and the additional color-choosing dice will make the game more fun for the littles. This might be the perfect family game for us – we all have short attention spans!
3 – There are also the amazing illustrations on the Magic Tree Stacking Pyramid – I wish Birdie was younger so I could gobble this up. Nesting toys like this are doubly wonderful because they stack away into the littlest space possible.
4 – The most complicated set is the Green Grocer with Scales and Till. This looks amazing – and the price is great at $31 for all of those pieces. Help your kids learn the difference between different weights, practice checking out at the store and counting your coins, it’s all good.
